One of the best parts about working for a company like Coyote is the fun! Everyone made it clear from the first day that they want the interns to have a good time on top of working hard all summer. So, the human resources team organized an all-expenses paid Tigers game for the interns, our coaches, and our managers. We came into work at the normal time, and halfway through the day were given a nice pizza lunch. Then, we went on a party bus (yes, a party bus) that took us to Detroit on one of the most beautiful days of the summer.
The great thing about an event like this, besides missing half a day of work to have some fun, is that we were able to bond with our superiors outside the office. It made all of us interns feel comfortable around the people we work with every day. I definitely feel like this changed my relationships with my coach, human resources team, and manager in a positive way. There’s nothing like belting out country songs on a bus full of disco lights while everyone’s decked out in Tigers apparel.
The lesson learned here is that there should always be some fun implemented in the work environment. In my opinion, it bonds people in a way that leads to comfort in the office as well as increased productivity. Or, at least, that’s how I felt the next day when I wanted to up my number in sales to make up for the time missed at the Tigers game.
By the way…we won the game. Go Tigers!
