My internship has helped shape my plans both for my remaining time at Michigan and for what I’ll do afterwards.
My time during my final months in school will be informed by my experience in New York — my internship gave me an appreciation for various facets of my life and studies in Ann Arbor. Significant aspects of my classes served me in a real-world setting, and going forward I will be able to focus on maximizing these elements of my coursework. Conversely, there are some things that I can experience in school that weren’t available to me outside of the campus environment. These activities I will focus on and savor while I have the chance.
One of the effects on my post-school plans is in choice of place to live. A goal in selecting an internship in NY was to evaluate the city as a place to work after graduation, and my experience was positive enough to merit giving serious consideration to a return. Another effect is in choice of industry — I am not sure that I will return to this industry in particular, but I know that the specific type of analytical skills I practiced here worked well for me, and that a job I select in the future will likely be one that lets me apply them.
