Bird Center: Post #5

Working at the Bird Center has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. There’s nothing quite like taking in an orphaned baby bird, feeding it everyday, watching it grow, and then seeing it released back into the wild. The same goes for injured birds. The things I have learned about wildlife rehabilitation will stay with me forever and I may even go on to get my own license for rehabilitation one day.

One of the best parts about this internship was the people I worked with. We were all of different ages, backgrounds, and skill levels yet we all had one thing in common: a passion for helping wild animals. I learned so much from staff members and volunteers and the relationships I built with them will stay with me forever. We’ve shared a wide range of emotional experiences together from dealing with the death of a bird to seeing it return home, but the good far outweighs the bad. I’ll cherish my time at the Bird Center forever and can only hope that I’ll like my future jobs as much as this one.
